Paid Memberships Pro: worth it, but not with Square subscriptions
Paid Memberships Pro is worth using if you need a flexible, developer-friendly membership system and are willing to configure it carefully. The core plugin is unusually capable for free, but the Square add-on is a poor fit for subscription businesses because it supports one-time card payments only; use Stripe or PayPal instead if recurring billing is central to your model.

How we rule
You should not have to read nine hundred words to find out whether something is worth your time. Every page opens with the decision.
Every ruling names the people it does not suit. A site that recommends everything recommends nothing.
The drawbacks we list are the ones showing up in support forums and reviews, not ones we imagined. We say where they came from.
